History
History of the College
Government Degree College, Eluru established in 2008-09 is the reality of dreams and aspirations of the people of Eluru town and its surrounding villages. Inspite of the existence of several UG Colleges in Eluru the need of a Government College for UG students remained a necessity until this institution is established. Ever since its establishment the college is bearing the responsibility of providing education to SC,ST and OBC students who belongs to marginalised sections Inspite of the fact that the college has not been allotted land for construction of buildings so far and sharing the buildings of Government Junior College, Eluru at Kotadibba, it is heading towards academic excellence with its students performing well in curricular, co-curricular and extra curricular activities including games and sports. The college has been awarded 2F status from the University Grants Commission, New Delhi and working with 11 regular lectures all against 11 sanctioned posts and two guest lecturers. The college which is affiliated to Adikavi Nannaya University, Rajamahendravaram and had successfully introduced CBCS (ChoiseBasedCredit System) along with semester system from 2015-16 batch. The college proving itself working for all round development of the student with the of Jawahar Knowledge Centre, Career Guidance Cell, Women Empowerment Cell, Eco Club, Consumer Club, Readers Club and many more. The college has the benefit of having Mana Tv, a channel of Government undertaking where from lessons are taught to UG students through television. The college has a College Planning and Development Council with the Principal as Chairman and Sri R.Surya Rao, MLC(Teacher representative of Godavari Districts in the council) as secretary and the following as members.
1. Sri Chode Venkata Ratnam, Deputy Mayor, Muncipal Council of Eluru.
2. Sri L. Subash, Social activist.
3. Sri K.Ravi prasada Rao, Social activist.
4. Three senior lecturers of the college.
The college is working with the motto "పూను స్పర్ధను విద్యలందే" taken from the poem, Patriotism of the illustrious poet of Telugu, Gurajada Apparao which means competition is justified only in education. The college invites all its stake holders to take part in all the endeavours in making the institution a centre of great learning and abode of intelligence and skill.....
